BIG LIGHT - Chemigram Workshop

BOOK NOW

A chemigram is a camera-less, experimental art form invented by Pierre Cordier in 1956 that combines painting with photographic chemistry. It involves applying substances (honey, wax, oil) to photo paper in full light to act as a resist, which controls how the developer and fixer interact with the paper's emulsion.

This chemigram workshop has been developed in partnership with Stockport College, devised and planned by one of Stockport College's design students Harley Skelton. Harley has explored the chemigram process as part of his studies in the form of a live brief with Merseyway Workshop, and created a zine for the launch of BIG LIGHT, our new community darkroom, which explains the process.
